| developer status opensource and cvs access
From what I understand about OSI opensource we have several options
· we can just include the source py files in the download and hope for the best. Kinda like the mating process of clams and mussels.
· we can strip the app to just the compiled pyc files and provide the sources on request, I believe we are allowed to have a developer registration where we can require full realworld contact info. CVS tree access and access to the developer board would be granted after the registration and verification process. Only distributing pyc would also speed the download and installation process for average users. Developer status also gets your avatar a cool rank badge,
· Our clientserver implementation and protocol interfaces are opensource, our masterserver implementation is however proprietary, it handles real world payment and personal user data. For this reason details of this side of the system will be considered a trade secret.
· in the event we do go out of business or stop maintaining the clientserver software we should leave a full source out there somewhere like Simtel. There should be lotsa good meat for the vultures on these bones. | |
